Attention: the City Council meeting about De Pere Ice Arena on December 3rd has been cancelled and we are no longer requesting attendance on this date. DPIA will be on the agenda at a future meeting that is currently TBD: we will share the date when it is announced.
Mayor visit: We have been informed that the Mayor and Council Members will tour DPIA on Wednesday, December 11. We plan to have a DPYH representative join in this visit.
What remains unchanged: The De Pere City council will review the recent DPIA assessment and discuss whether the city will retain financial accountability/ ownership for the rink at an upcoming City Council meeting. This decision is critical for the future of the arena and our programs.
We need your support!
Here are some key actions we encourage all members to take:
1. Contact City Council Members: If you live in the City of De Pere, please consider sending an email to your council representative expressing your support for the DPIA. Attached to this email are two sample letters you can use to start your email (one for Residents of De Pere and one for Non-Residents). You can find the contact information for the Mayor and all council members on the De Pere Council website.
2. Identify Influential Contacts to Advocate for DPIA: If you’re a community leader or know influential community members who could write letters of support to the Mayor and Council, please let us know. Letters from respected members of the community will significantly underscore the arena’s value. Please send their contact information to DENA.SANDS@DPYH.ORG so that we can reach out with a request to send this communication.
3. Attend the City Council Meeting in the Future (Date TBD)
The future of DPIA impacts hundreds of young athletes, families, and the wider community. Let’s come together, as Hockey families always do, to ensure it remains a valuable resource for De Pere.
Thank you in advance for your continued commitment and support!
